Hi we're from Project Hearts and we're raising funds for the mentally and physically disabled children. The funds will go to VSA - Very Special Arts and it's whereby art therapy is used to treat the children. Would you like to make a small donation and at the same time, write a note of encouragement to these children?

Assembled at SMU early this morning. I met Desirae at Dhoby Ghaut MRT (for the first time, I did not go with Bridget because her car was full) however, i got really lost and we spent about 20 mins looking for each other. But anyway, Desirae, if you're reading this, THANK YOU A LOT! (And Daryl cut her fringe. So Bridget, Daryl and i have the same fringe now!!)

As we had to be in either groups or 2 or 3, and we have 5 people here, we had to split - Daryl, Bridget and i together ; Desirae and Sabrina together. We combed almost the whole of Orchard from 9am-2pm, under the scorching sun and my face is red now.

Many thoughts flashed by during this CIP.
Recently, there have been quite a few cases of misusing Charity's funds, therefore the public are now doubtful, afraid that they would be cheated of their money. There's this lady whom asked repeatedly if 100% of the funds would go to that organization. It's sad how those people can be so selfish as to use the money for their own benefits, causing the public to change their perspective of such donations, and being doubtful about them. They do not trust such donations anymore...

Another thing is that many people simply brush past us as we approached them. We were thinking, why cant these people just spare us a second or so, to just drop in a few coins? We dont expect big, blue notes. Furthur more, what do these few coins mean to them? Nothing much. Just peanuts. But dont they know that these few coins mean a lot to the mentally and physically disabled children? I also understand that some people are already struggling to fend themselves, and cant donate. But at least, at least, shake your head as a form of rejection instead of simply glaring at us and walking away, yeah?

We also approached this old man whom I'll never forget. I spotted him, but had no intentions of approaching him because i thought he would not bother us as well. However, Bridget approached him. As he spoke, i was taken aback. He was an educated man. So i was wrong. He said he would really want to donate, he knew how eager we were, he knew how these donations meant to the children. However, he said he could not even support himself. He's jobess. Companies rejected him as he is old. He's jobless. There you go, an old man, holding an umbrella, wrinkled skin, loitering around Orchard Road. Jobless. I reckon he has no children or that they left him alone. But anyhow, he spoke very fluent English. He could have gotten a job. But people rejected him because he was old. Then i realised. This is society. It's just how it is.
