Heard of the book "Steve and Me" by Terri Irwin?
It's a really good book, i promise. I literally laughed and cried throughout the book and i feel as though i'm part of the story, that i really cried at the end of the book. It's really touching how Steve Irwin was so commited to his family and the environment. It's really, really a pity that he died. I mean, read the book, briefly understand Steve Irwin and his family, and you'll know what i mean.
Just before this post, i google-searched Steve Irwin. There were quite a number of pictures of Steve at work, and also many pictures joking about his death. Seriously, i think these people are idiots. What's so funny about a great man being pierced by a stringray barb that you have to joke about it and even post it on the net where everyone can get access to? It simply reflects how these people have not compassion. Look, i believe for the rest of us, even if we do not know much about Steve Irwin, as least not as much as his family and friends do, we'll still feel sad over his death, yeah? We all know who he was and wait, why was he famous? Because he was such a caring man who paid a real lot of attention to animals and the environment. Having said that, many people still mocked at his death, which is definitely not at all funny. Obviously these ignorant people do not have even the slighest idea of what Steve Irwin had contributed to the environment and what he had done to help conserve animal species.
Years back, people criticised him for bringing Robert Irwin close to a croc. They related him to Michael Jackson's case of abusing kids. Hello, people? Steve was so passionate for animals and it isnt at all a surprise that he wants to influence his children to love animals. What's more, Steve Irwin is so familar with animals and surely, he knew his limits back then. Yeap, people may say, "Animals are unpredictable." Very true, but hey, i dont see a problem with Steve trying to share his interest with his family and hence did what he did. Nothing happened to Robert, yet people still harped on it, and made it seem like Steve Irwin abused his kids. Where has the love gone to, folks?
My heart goes out to Steve's family, especially Terri Irwin, who now has 2 children to take care of and a zoo to manage. Yet, despite her heavy responsibility, she faced everything strongly. She faced his death strongly, while trying to make her kids do so as well. Really, this family is incredible. In the book, she acknowledged Steve like this:
And finally, a huge thank-you to my husband, Steve. You are now the angel leaning over my shoulder, whispering in my ear that I can do anything- you always believed in me.
