I was texting Xinwei and she was telling me how nervous and excited she was. Indeed, that was exactly the mixed feelings I felt during the whole of Thursday before we knew the results. I constantly went to my phone and check to see if there are any texts received. Just like Xinwei, each time I received a new text, I'd be very afraid that that would be the results. We were chatting and then finally, she replied me with a word, "Silver".
For a moment I stared at my phone's screen. I didnt know how to react. It was kinda expected but then again, we hoped for a gold. At first I felt quite disappointed because we did not get our targeted gold. But after thinking for a while, I realised that we were still good anyway. We improved from years and years of bronze to silver. We broke the bronze curse. We finally showed the school that we can do it too, just like any other CCAs.
Im sure many dancers feel disappointed too, especially the Year Fours whom Im sure want to get a gold for their last SYF in EDS Dance. It's absolutely inevitable to feel that way but I feel that what's most important is that we enjoyed ourselves on the stage. We did our best and gave our all. At least we all had fun together, during practices and on the stage while performing as well. Look, all these SYF practices have really bonded me with Xinwei and Hweechian. I think that's one of the best takeaways. Moreover, we had lotsa fun throughout the 6 months journey; we fell and we picked ourselves up; we learnt a lot; we had lotsa laughter and joy; we enjoyed ourselves. All these, I feel, are what that matter the most.
Silver does perfectly well, too. What's more, with so many takeaways, we are all champions though in a different way. Yall know very well that in our hearts, we are the champions; we've got THAT gold.
Im honestly very grateful and thankful to be in EDS Dance. I LOVE EDS!
