This afternoon during LA lesson, Mr Swee was telling us his encounter @ Giant Hypermart. (Mr Swee going to a hypermart sounds really ridiculous.) Anyway, he was waiting for his mother to pay for her purchases and meanwhile, he noticed two children running about, with a maid chasing them and trying to stop them. As their mother turned around, the two children stopped running and stood with the maid,(Typical irritating children) coughing from all that running. Believe it or not, that irresponsible mom scolded the maid, saying something along this line:
"Why didnt you take care of my children? They're coughing and if anything happens, you are to be blamed."
WHAT THE HECK.
So Mr Swee, being the ever-straightforward one, went up to that irresponsible mom and said,
"Look, YOU should be blamed for not disciplining your children who did not listen to instruction. YOU did not do a good job in disciplining your children and YOU should be blamed instead. It is not your maid's fault that they do not listen. It is YOUR fault for not disciplining them well enough."
Something along that line.
And that woman rebuked.
"Mind your own business."
Mr Swee coolly replied,
"I am minding your business because you do not know how to mind yours."
And that's why I say, Mr Swee rocks.
He is NOT trying to interfere. He is merely speaking up for maids, who are mostly being ill-treated by their irritating employers who think that they have all the rights in the world to abuse their maids, regardless of physically or mentally. I think these people are disgusting because afterall, maids are human beings and what makes the employers have so much control over them? Moreover, I dont see what's so thrilling or fun about abusing people, because to me, that just goes to show what a sadistic person you are.
And like Mr Swee has said, why is it that vandalising cars can lead to 24 strokes which can rupture your skin while maid abuse only leads to a few months of jailing? Are they trying to imply that expensive cars are more important?
